Tasting notes

Ruckus is built on the model of wine produced in Côte Rôtie or Hermitage. And then we add cabernet sauvignon because it tastes better that way. And because we are rebellious. Red Mountain syrah frames, supports and drives the deeply saturated purple hue, leads to a nose of roasted game, blackberries, crème de cassis, graphite and tar. Monstrous weight from the prodigious 2015 vintage rides with laser intensity, bright freshness and impossible density. Layer upon layer of purity explode on the palate. Designed for immediate revelry and a structure that will age gracefully as far as our eyes can see.

Once upon a time there was a syrah called Stella Mae. As demand for syrah began to taper off a bit, we decided in our third vintage to align our girls' wines on either side of the Gironde, even though it is nowhere near Woodinville in the name of family harmony. So, in 2006, we made Ruckus, our Red Mountain syrah blended with a touch of cabernet sauvignon.
