#7 Wine in the World for 2014 - Wine Enthusiast (2013)
Tasting notes
Ah, bone dry Birdie, full of bright stone fruit and juicy acidity! Who doesn’t love that? Loaded with jasmine, Asian pear, crushed stone and spices. Delicious now and will age gracefully for a generation. A culinary marvel that pairs with a myriad of flavor buddies.
Food pairing: Sushi, duh; after lots of red wine so you can feel your tongue again.
Movie pairing: The "original" Blade Runner
FOUNDERS’ NOTES:
Birdie was the brainchild of our winemaker Linn Scott during his first harvest at the helm in 2012. Named after our senior family pet, a remarkable old cat, the 2013 Birdie was awarded 94 points and the rank of #7 wine in the world in 2014 by Wine Enthusiast. It is crafted to resemble classic Alsatian style dry Rieslings. Our go to for sushi and Thanksgiving. Our suspicion is that it will age beautifully for upwards of twenty years.
