2019 Holler Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2019 Holler reminds us a bit of the 2017: polished, supple and just plain delicious. A cabernet
sauvignon blended with malbec, cab franc, merlot, and petit verdot for a gorgeous wine of lovely
depth and power. It shows a dense blue-purple color as well as a showy bouquet of blackberries,
pencil lead, cedar, stone, sweet oak and mineral. On the palate it leads with pretty, bright, blue and
black fruits, mocha, herbs and fine chewy tannins. As always with this wine, a little decantation will
help it open, but rest assured it will develop for many years.
Food Pairing: Steak and baked potato, old school like. Or roasted mushrooms and mashers.
Movie Pairing: To Kill a Mockingbird
FOUNDERS’ NOTES:
First produced in 2012, Holler is named for Red Hollow, the place where Chris's parents live in Knoxville, Tennessee. The theory behind the wine is simple: once the barrels for Kingpin, Rainmaker and Evermore are selected, the remaining barrels (plus some other Bordeaux varietals) become Holler. These barrels are good enough to become the #21 wine in the world on Wine Spectator's 2016 Top 100.This wine heads our over delivery tier, having received a 94 point score for the 2013. Tastes great too.
Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines #21 (2013) and #29 (2018) (2013: 94 pts, 2014: 93, 2015: 92, 2016: 93, 2017: 92, 2018: 93)
