2021 Kingpin Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasting notes
Kingpin Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 is massive, delivering a nose of cigar box, blackberry, roasted herbs, sweet oak, and minerals. Firm, yet soft tannins reveal gorgeous flavors of Rainier cherry, blueberry, dark chocolate, baking spices and stone. Rich and opulent, this superb effort will develop and amaze for decades to come.
Food pairing:Grilled New York steak with gorgonzola butter, Gaga’s veggie stew balls (amazing!)
Movie pairing:The Godfather
FOUNDERS’ NOTES:
Launched in 2006, Kingpin celebrates the raw power and intensity of Red Mountain. Although we have no definitive conclusion on its ultimate life span due to the fact that we have only made it for 10 years or so and have none even beginning to peak, we suspect this is a wine that can be enjoyed for at least 30 years, if not many more.

"The 2021 ‘Kingpin’ comes from Red Mountain and has a touch of Petit Verdot blended in. A touch of green bell pepper marks the nose from the Petit Verdot alongside dark chocolate cake and shades of black licorice with scorched earth on the nose. The palate is smooth and generous with great minerality. A joy to consume now, watch this evolve over the next fifteen plus years. Drink 2025-2040"

"Lightly toasty and cedary on the nose, this offers ripe black fruit and hints of baking spices and sandalwood. Full-bodied and compact, yet refined and textured at the same time, it lingers with spicy and earthy nuances. Try from 2027."
