Ruby Leigh v. 2022 launches with a delicious nose of dark chocolate, Rainier cherries, blackberry cobbler, a hint of vanilla, and a smooch of sweet oak on its way to silky textured flavors of cherry, raspberry, graphite, dark chocolate, and cigar box. A lovely dance across the palate now, this wine is destined for many years of show stopping beauty and elegance.
Food pairing: Chinese-style crispy duck pancakes, Gouda and quinoa stuffed roasted red peppers
Movie pairing: Mary Poppins, the original
FOUNDERS’ NOTES:
Ruby Leigh is one of the Three Original Wines, and has, since its inception in 2004, been driven by merlot and cabernet franc, supported by malbec and cabernet sauvignon. Like our daughter, each vintage of Ruby Leigh is a classic, lovely and vibrant in its youth and undoubtedly astounding in its evolution.
"This is two thirds Merlot, filled out with Cab Franc and Malbec. As with all the Sparkman wines it’s beautifully proportioned, balanced across the palate, with a classy mix of fruit and tannin, herb and citrus. The Merlot base broadens the mouthfeel, and the lightly spicy fruit brings red currant and strawberry with a touch of rhubarb." 92/100 Paul Gregutt
