2023 Outlaw Merlot

2023 Outlaw Merlot is bit brawny on the attack but simmers down with a little air and epitomizes what is so special about Washington State Merlot: delicious in its youth, ageworthy and utterly world class as it reaches its peak in a generation or so. This vintage of Outlaw shows cherry, blood orange, mint, dark chocolate, sweet smoky oak and walnut on the nose leading to deeply focused fruit flavors of plum, bing cherry, blackberry and graphite all swaddled in fine tannins. Designed to be lovely now and to outlast your expectations...

FOUNDERS’ NOTES:
One of the Three Original Wines, Outlaw was a single barrel of merlot from Hedges Vineyard in 2004. The wine was made to honor Kelly's Dad who suggested that we start a family business when we found out we were going to be parents. Outlaw is not necessarily produced in every vintage, having been released from 2004-2007, 2009, and 2014-2015. Because merlot is so damn delicious, we think the producers of the movie Sideways are on their way to hell.
