Tasting notes
Stella Mae v. 2022 opens with aromas of black plum, kirsch, cassis, baking chocolate, and a dollop of sweet vanilla. A core of ripe rich flavors of blackberries, cherries, gooseberries, roasted herbs, and crushed stone is swaddled in firm but silky tannins. This timeless blend will delight and evolve for many many years.
Food pairing: Porcini mushroom risotto, Duck confit with roasted veggies
Movie pairing: Streetcar Named Desire
FOUNDERS’ NOTES:
Stella Mae was our first Syrah in the 2004 and 2005 vintages and became a Cabernet Sauvignon driven Bordeaux blend in 2006, as we sought to align the girls' wines in the name of peace and harmony at the kitchen table. Each vintage of Stella Mae is lovely and vibrant in its youth and undoubtedly astounding in its evolution.

"This is Cabernet Sauvignon with 22% Malbec blended in. The Sparkman reds make especially good use of Malbec, both as a principal grape and part of a blend; makes you think more wineries should follow suit. This is a lovely companion to the Ruby Leigh, here with a little more oomph to the tannins, a little tighter focus, and darker fruits – blackberries and a touch of cassis. It fades out gracefully with a smooth hint of saddle leather." 92/100 Paul Gregutt
