Kingpin Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 explodes with an impressive nose of blackberry, cedar, mocha, vanilla, and wet stone. Fine tannins buttress intense flavors of black cherry, dark chocolate, roasted herbs and minerals. Rich and decadent, this silky monster will blossom for ages.

Launched in 2006, Kingpin celebrates the raw power and intensity of Red Mountains's iconic Klipsun Vineyard. Although we have no definitive conclusion on its ultimate life span due to the fact that we have only made it for 10 years or so and have none even beginning to peak, we suspect this is a wine that can be enjoyed for at least 30 years, if not many more.

"Opulent, abundant black cherries and blueberries give the wine great focus, while medium tannins and a nip of fruit acidity add appetizing balance. Blended with 6% petit verdot and 6% malbec. Drink now or hold."

"The 2020 Sparkman Cabernet Sauvignon ‘Kingpin’ from Red Mountain is a bold and commanding blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, and 6% Malbec, aged in 82% new French oak. In the glass, it pours a brooding deep purple core with a light purple rim, setting the stage for its intense profile. Aromas of black plums, marionberries, and sweet tobacco leaves intertwine with notes of cedary herbs, Red Mountain sage, and hints of scorched earth. The palate is structured with elevated acidity and crunchy tannins, leading to a spicy, enduring finish. A little over 400 cases made. Drink 2024-2032."
