2021 Holler Cabernet Sauvignon
91 pts International Wine Report
Tasting notes
The 2021 Holler attacks with a uniquely complex nose of black cherry, forest floor, toasted oak, vanilla and mineral. This all leads to a richly textured palate loaded with blueberries, black currants, earthy goodness, dark chocolate and sweet herbs, all swaddled in extra fine tannins. As always, the World’s Best Cabernet Sauvignon For the Money.
Food Pairing: Steak and baked potato, old school like. Or roasted mushrooms and mashers.
Movie Pairing: To Kill a Mockingbird
FOUNDERS’ NOTES:
First produced in 2012, Holler is named for Red Hollow, the place where Chris's parents live in Knoxville, Tennessee. The theory behind the wine is simple: once the barrels for Kingpin, Rainmaker and Evermore are selected, the remaining barrels (plus some other Bordeaux varietals) become Holler. These barrels are good enough to become the #21 wine in the world on Wine Spectator's 2016 Top 100.This wine heads our over delivery tier, having received a 94 point score for the 2013. Tastes great too.
Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines #21 (2013) and #29 (2018) (2013: 94 pts, 2014: 93, 2015: 92, 2016: 93, 2017: 92, 2018: 93, 2019: 93)

"The 2021 Sparkman Cabernet Sauvignon ‘Holler’ from Columbia Valley is a harmonious blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 68% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 6% Malbec, and 1% Petit Verdot. Aged for 18 months in 40% new French oak, this wine strikes a balance between earthiness and ripe fruit notes. It opens with savory and earthy characteristics, showcasing damp earth and cedary herbs. As it evolves in the glass, layers of black plums, blueberries, lemon pith, and sandalwood come to the forefront. Drink 2024-2030."
